To ColleenI remember the first time you shared
When the doctors made a fuss
You said that things like this don't happen
To "ordinary" folks like us
I've pondered many times your words
Through the battle fought so long
And though I understand your thought
I am afraid you got it wrong
For ordinary can't describe
The life that you did live
The beauty from both in and out
The gifts you had to give
Your calm and cheerful manner
Your always steady way
Were never unremarkable
As you lived them day to day
You loved your friends and family
And the many kids you served
And you fought with inspiration
Against a war so undeserved
Perhaps we'll never understand
God's purpose in the end
But what he gave to us, in you
Was "extraordinary", my friend.

God's Heavenly Garden
Sometimes God picks the flower
That is still in full bloom;
Sometimes the rosebud's chosen
That we feel He's picked too soon.
Sometimes the flower is fading
With petals floating down,
But God knows the perfect time
To gather flowers from the ground.
There is a heavenly garden
In which God takes great pleasure
Because He's placed within it
The loved ones that we treasure.
He walks among the blossoms
Giving them eternal rest,
And I know that it must please Him
Because He chose our very best.
